I have been very busy making some modern business card designs for my main store cards_by_cathy on zazzle.
These cards are generic and can be used for most professions. You can change the text as required.
This week, Mark Javer aka LuckyTurtle over at zazzle has written a brief article regarding the important points to remember when choosing Business cards. Mark has a large store of some really great business card designs and templates, So he knows what he’s talking about!
A little about Luckyturtle designs:
Lucky Turtle Designs offers professional business card templates you customize and make your own! Hundreds of designs and dozens of professions to choose from, including pets, accounting, lawn care, salon, medical, automotive, and many more. Designs are free; you pay only for printing and second side printing at no additional charge. Best of all, you get to see how your design will look before you complete your order! If you want a custom design, you can email mark through the store.
“Want a business card template that’s going to make a great first impression and help your client stay in touch? This article gives you very important tips on where to find hundreds of free business card templates and how to avoid important mistakes in making your business cards! Let’s start with a few basic rules for making sure it will even be noticed!
Before we get started here, one great way to create a design is to pick one that is already created that can be used for your own! The trick is, finding templates you don’t have to pay for! On the following website, you are able to use the designs without paying anything for use of the template itself. Just pick a template you like, add your company info to the card to see how it looks in real time as a finished product, then order your printing. Click the image below to Go to my store.
A few common mistakes to avoid:
Super glossy, almost plastic type coatings on the back side of your card will in many cases prohibit one of the most useful things people do with your cards…. they like to write notes on the back relating to your product or service as a reminder. Do not have your business cards printed on card stock that does not allow someone to write on the back of your card with an ink pen.
I highly recommend you make sure you are selecting quality paper. Thin paper not only does not last long, it sends the wrong message about you and your business. In some cases, prospects will conclude that using poor, thin, card stock means you do not care enough about your business or take it seriously enough to want to project a positive image about yourself, your company, and your products or service. So don’t print your business cards on thin paper stock.
You may think that eight sided design looks cool but, you may simply be making it hard for people to be able to store your cards where they normally store the ones they save for future use / reference. (Binder sleeves, etc.) So don’t create them in some odd shape or size.
Make sure your business card template reflects what you do very clearly! Part of the power of a business card is the ability to convey what your business is about visually. Make sure the business card template you pick has a photo, design, or logo that will easily be associated with the type of business or service you are providing, even if the name of your business makes it obvious enough all by itself. In this exmaple, there’s no doubt that this is a pet related business card

You’d be surprised how many people neglect to include their email address. There are prospects who like to ask questions “at a distance” prior to hiring a company for their product or service. Make your prospect comfortable to do business and acquire information about your product or service in any way they are most comfortable. Here’s an example of a handyman business card template that clearly shows the email address for contact.
Take your business cards and your business seriously, and your prospects will also!
