I bought the Symmetryworks plugin for Illustrator from Artlandia 2 weeks ago to try and speed up my original pattern designs.
Creating seamless pattern designs in Illustrator and Photoshop can be done without any additional plug ins without a problem but they can take time to do and very complicated patterns can cause the less experienced user some difficulty.
I haven’t totally figured the Artlandia software out. I have lots to learn. There is an extensive user manual that comes with it and I’m more of a try it and see type of gal ha ha! So that is on the to-do list.
Here are a few examples of products I have designed with patterns created in the software.
This little cupcake bakery business card has a repeating seamless pattern with a pink polka dot and white dotty outer border and a blue dot with a white border around. It also has a cupcake with pink frosting alternating direction in the pattern. this was created in Illustrator using the Symmetryworks software in about 20 seconds.
I am then able to change the colours as usual in Illustrator to get design variations.
This repeating rose pattern on this girly IPAD case was again created in a very short time. the original motif is very simple and hand drawn in Illustrator using my Graphics tablet and then I used the Symmetry works program to create the pattern.
This Ipad Girly Floral IPad case is using the same motif from above but a different pattern arrangement. The Plugin has several pre-programmed pattern arrangements that you can play around with, plus you have a little control window to mess with to give you even more options.
This design of this complicated ornate design was created in the software. this took a little longer to design but no more than a few minutes.
This cute Heart and Stars IPhone 4 case has little hearts alternating in direction. Very quick and easy pattern to make.
This white IPhone 4 case with gold vintage crowns pattern was made using Symmetry works also. Great little program!
